On the Wing

’… … to Lithang and back’ [1] That’s what he said
And I’m glad he did come back;
Though I guess he underwent a change.

Sometimes I begin to wonder
Why he didn’t scoff at them;
After all who were they
To say he wasn’t what he was.

Why didn’t they wish him well
On his short winged flight;
Why didn’t they say goodbye;
I am sure he felt the pain.

Over the years I wonder,
How many folks remember him,
While they sing his songs
for their love or over their chang. [2]
