Another year has passed, another just arrived.
The various trials along the way, that we all survived.

Laughed at some, wetted some shoulders.
Some spirited high fives, some mushy moments.

The lover’s spat and frequent patch ups..
Some hearts broken, some lessons learnt..

Some mischievious eyes, played flirting games,
While some daring souls, rekindled old flames..

Hard to let go,for it has some cherished memories,
Many unsung glories, several untold stories.

But as we move ahead to face new challenges,
Standing on the threshold, fighting this fear.

Lets forget old wars, and forgive old enemies.
Rejoice together and welcome the coming year.

Speak for me

I imagined a life bigger than this,
Living everyday, carefree as it comes.
I dreamt about everything that I am not.
Of just living my life to its fullest.

But how do I put across these feelings?
For I am just another mute beast,
I have no voice to speak my mind.
So, would you speak for me?

Would you tell the world,
That I deserve better,
That I am more than just a piece of meat.
That I am a life just like any other.

Can you not feel the pain in my cries?
Can you not see my soul through my eyes?
Oh! would you remind them of humanity?
Oh! would you speak out for me?

As you wrap my skin around you,
Enjoying my flesh, my blood that you so relish.
And as you test your drugs and perfumes on me,
Just ask your conscience, was it all worth this.

And as you watch me, bathed in my own blood,
Shivering and slowly breathing my last.
Don’t say a prayer for me or let out a sigh.
Instead, speak out for the many others, yet to die..
